- I can save you from making costly mistakes. Period. Unless you have an exceptional eye for colour or if you have had professional training, you will make mistakes. Some you may be able to live with, others may have you making expensive changes. And the serious ones may cause the value of your home to decline. I ensure you get it right the first time.
- Some fabrics and products are more durable than others. Selecting the best ones for your project will save you money.
- In addition, I recognize that your time is very valuable. Allow me to help to make the process more efficient.
- I only present items that are within your budget. If you don’t see other items outside of your budget, it is much easier to stay on budget.
- I believe in repurposing items. I do not believe in buying everything new.
- I have access to trade only stores and trade discounts, which I share with you.
- I only recommend reputable trades people with whom I have worked.
- I keep you on budget. My projects come in at or below budget 99% of the time.
I Save You Time
- I do all of the legwork so that you don’t have to (unless you want to!). I choose product, or I will help you to choose product, that will best suit your needs and those of your family.
- I document all meetings to ensure the project runs smoothly.
- I do the follow up with the builder and/or general contractor, the trades and with suppliers.
I Provide Up to Date Interior Decorating Skills and Knowledge
- I have many years of experience in interior decorating and design. I began my interior decorating journey in 2005.
- I designed and built my own custom home so I know what’s it’s like to be the client.
- I have the education: A 2-year Interior Decorating Certificate (High Honours) from Sheridan College. Plus a 4-year Bachelor of Commerce degree (Honours) from Dalhousie University.
- I am involved in my industry. I am an active member of CDECA, the decorating industry’s governing non-profit organization. Not every Interior Decorator is a member of CDECA, but I have been a member since I became a Certified Interior Decorator.
- I have access to many trade only showrooms so that you may purchase products unique to you.
- I am an Interior Decorator who holds myself to a high standard by attending seminars 8-10 times per year. Why? Because knowledge and experience translates into a well designed home which is functional and a pleasure to be in. Your home will also be worth more and will sell faster, when the time comes. - When you enlist me to help you to redecorate your home, I see it as a partnership. We will work TOGETHER to make sure you get the space you want within your budget.
- I begin every design project with a comprehensive Client Questionnaire which helps you to think through what design goals are important to you and to your family. I was recently at a trade seminar with 99 colleagues. When we were asked who does a Client Questionnaire, I was the ONLY person who raised their hand.
- I also have you create extensive Ideabooks on Houzz. This allows me to truly see the design direction you wish to go in.
I Reduce Your Stress
- I keep you on schedule so the contractor’s deadlines are not missed (if applicable).
- I do all of the follow up and I create meeting recaps that keep the project on track.
- I review all orders to ensure they are correct which reduces the likelihood of costly mistakes.
- I provide you with a Warranty Folder Package with warranty and service contact information and guidelines so you have everything in one place. Again, at the same seminar, I was the ONLY person who offers this service.
- I ensure that you make the right decision for your family and for your home.
